Iberian Village “El Cerro de La Cruz”

This archaeological site will take you back to the time of the ancient Iberian civilisation.

Declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, it is one of the few villages of   Low Iberian Period   (centuries II-III a.) excavated in Andalusia.

Immerse yourself in history as you explore this Iberian settlement, admire the remains of an ancient society and discover how the Iberians lived and organised themselves in this region. The settlement has impressive structures, dwellings, warehouses, silos and defensive walls that provide a fascinating insight into the daily life of those times.

The archaeological remains of the Iberian settlement are meticulously preserved and have been the subject of extensive research and study. As you tour the site, you will appreciate the details of the Iberian architecture and urban planning, as well as the artefacts uncovered, which offer a unique insight into the Iberian culture and way of life.

The constructions have a stone base and an elevation of bricks of adobes or tapial, preserving in some cases the imprint of the window, the door or the holes of the posts that supported the second floor of these buildings.

Due to the fact that it was completely destroyed with the arrival of the Roman Empire, so that it is easier for the visitor to imagine what the Iberian Village of Almedinilla was like, houses of the time and a typical ceramic oven of this culture with the decoration and utensils that could be found then have been rebuilt.
